The Wilsons River is central to the history of the City of Lismore. Flowing through the heart of Lismore, this northern arm of the Richmond River was renamed the Wilsons River in 1976 as a tribute to the district’s first pioneering family. Situated along a three kilometre section of the river at Riverside Park are three interpretive story sites that reveal the historic, cultural and recreational fabric of life along the banks of the Wilsons River for local Aboriginal families and European settlers. The butter churn sculpture, bushfood garden, boat ramp, wharves and barbeque facilities enhance the riverside setting. Take a walk along the banks of the Wilsons River to learn more about the city’s significant river history.

Pick up a map from the Lismore Visitor Information Centre to help guide you on your walk into the city, along the banks of the Wilsons River or download one here.
