Events play key role in reinvigorating Lismore

Lismore has a long journey ahead to rebuild after the flood, but Lismore City Council says upcoming events will help bring visitors and more than $12 million dollars into the region.

From national Little League baseball tournaments to the iconic annual Lismore Lantern Parade, from big gigs with big-name Aussie musicians to NORPA shows, there is an event for everyone on Lismore’s calendar in the new few months.

“And that’s just the tip of the iceberg,” City Centre Manager Jason Mumford said.

“Over the next eight weeks we have an absolutely packed calendar of events… it is great timing for Lismore. As well as Council events, there are also music and performance shows and all sorts of cultural highlights happening across the city including our famous Lismore Lantern Parade.

“One of the best things people in the Northern Rivers can do to help our community is to attend these events, buy something in our local shops, and help our economy bounce back.

“The key focus of the Lismore events team over the next six to 12 months is to attract further events to Lismore, with a primary focus on bringing positive economic benefits to the city. The events we are hosting in the next eight weeks alone will bring more than $12 million into our community.”
