What we do

As an incorporated association Nimbin Community Centre (NCCI) has key aims and objectives that direct the focus of our work. NCCI’s work is primarily focussed on managing the assets of the organisation in a sustainable manner for the benefit of the current community and the generations that will follow. Alongside this NCCI initiates and advocates for projects and services based on the changing needs of the community. Outlined below are the projects we are currently working on.

What we do

NCCI 5-year Action Plan
Every five years NCCI undertakes a strategic planning exercise to assess how effectively its aims are being met. During this review, objectives are revisited and refined, and a 5-year action plan developed. This plan becomes central to NCCI’s activity for the ensuing period. (more)

Truth and Beauty
The Truth and Beauty Committee oversees the development and beautification of the Community Centre grounds, gardens and infrastructure. Its members are comprised of NCCI Committee and staff members, as well as the broader Nimbin community. (more)

Rainbow Road
Rainbow Road is a dream long in the making, a project that has enjoyed strong community support for over 13 years. A partnership between Nimbin Community Centre Inc., Nimbin Chamber of Commerce, Lismore City Council and various government agencies, (more)

Aquarius Park
In December 2020 Nimbin Community Centre successfully negotiated the purchase of 11a Alternative Way, a 2.29ha vacant property bordering Rainbow Power Company, the Headers’ sportsfields, the Alternative Way village subdivision, and the Nimbin Crystal Tourist Park. (more)

Disaster Plan
Following the devastating bushfires in November 2019, members of NCCI engaged in a partnership with the wider community to develop a Nimbin Community Disaster Plan. (more)

Sustainability Plan
Nimbin is a community with a history focussed on defending, protecting, preserving and enhancing the environment in a sustainable manner for the benefit of future generations. We are a resilient community that possesses extraordinary community capital. (more)
