MATHEW BARLOW

Chairperson of the Organising Committee

On behalf of the Organising Committee, our dedicated staff, the sports conveners and the many valuable volunteers, I would like to welcome all competitors to the 11th Lismore Workers Masters Games.

The Masters Games continue to grow since its inception in 1997 and we look forward to a number of new sports this year across a number of new and exciting venues.

It only seems like yesterday that we were wrapping up the 10th edition of the Games after a lot of hard work resurrecting Lismore following the devastating flood in 2017.

The Organising Committee is focused on continually improving the sports and the festivities that surround such an iconic event on the Lismore calendar. We want to continue to seeing our visitors, players and spectators enjoying more fun, more food and more friendships during the 11th Games!

To those of you who have come from outside the region we welcome you to our beautiful city and surrounding North Coast area, and hope you enjoy the natural wonders we have to offer as well as the spirit of competition while playing and competing at our excellent sporting facilities. For all of our local competitors, we know that you will relish the company of our visitors for three days and show them what makes these Games and the Northern Rivers so special.

I’d also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the work of the sports conveners and volunteers and thank them for the excellent job they do in making our Games the undoubted success it is.

Enjoy the Games, enjoy the area and enjoy yourselves!

CR ISAAC SMITH

Mayor of Lismore

It is my great pleasure to welcome local, regional and interstate visitors to our city for the 11th Lismore Workers Masters Games!

Lismore has always been the sporting centre of the Northern Rivers, and we pride ourselves on offering high-quality sporting facilities and venues. Since our last Games two years ago many of these have had major upgrades. You will notice that Oakes Oval, Albert Park and Hepburn Park have all had multi-million improvements, making them the best in regional NSW.

The Lismore Workers Masters Games is one of the biggest events on our sporting calendar and it is something our city is very proud of. Not only do the Games encourage active lifestyles and community participation, but also great social interaction and the building of lifelong friendships.

I would like to welcome back regular Masters Games attendees and wish you all the best in your sports and hope that you enjoy reconnecting with fellow team-mates and friends. I hope that new attendees of the Games get to experience the sportsmanship that has made this such a successful and enduring event, and I know that you will soon become part of the Masters Games family.

Last but certainly not least, the Masters Games would simply not be possible without the dedication and commitment of our organising committee and huge team of volunteers. Thank you for the time, effort and love you put in to make our Masters Games a wonderful event.

To all competitors from all sports, a hearty welcome to Lismore and best of luck in the 11th Masters Games!

welcome

MR THOMAS GEORGE MP

Patron

While this year I retired as Member for Lismore, one of the special roles I have kept is that of patron of the Lismore Workers Masters Games. It is an honour and privilege to be able to extend to you an invitation to participate in this regional premier event, which now represents 20 sports.

In 2019 you will notice some big differences at many of our sporting facilities. Major upgrades to Oakes Oval, Crozier Field, the Albert Park baseball precinct, the Lismore Basketball Stadium and the Netball Centre have all helped to cement Lismore as the sports hub of the region. These upgrades mean in 2019 you will be competing on some of the best facilities in northern NSW, so get ready for a big week of sport this September.

I look forward to cheering you on!
