Lismore will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its Sister City Relationship with Yamato Takada in conjunction with the official opening of the City Hall refurbishments. A large contingent from Yamato Takada will be attending these celebrations.
From the Saturday night dances in the 60s to Skyhooks concerts in the 70s and debutante balls in the 80s, the Lismore City Hall has been at the centre of this region’s cultural life. In 2013, the hall has undergone exciting renovations transforming the 1960s building into a state-of-the-art performance venue. The upgrade, designed by architects Phillips Smith Conwell and locals Dominic Finlay Jones, includes covered outdoor spaces, the creation of a mezzanine floor, a new loading dock, improvements to the foyer, acoustics and auditorium (including new seats!). Lismore City Hall, with its fully-licenced bar, is now a wonderful destination for an evening out.
