regional produce

Lismore’s rich, volcanic soils yield a bounty of fine, fresh produce. Renowned as one of Australia’s largest coffee growing centres and home of the macadamia, the region has a reputation for gourmet cuisine.

The hills of the hinterland are dotted with macadamia, avocado and stone fruit, pecan, blueberry and bushfood plantations as well as beef, pork and dairy farms. Cafes, restaurants, pubs and clubs make the most of this bounty, incorporating fresh, local and organic produce into their menus.

You’ll find fabulous food at roadside stalls and markets throughout the region and for the freshest produce around, check out the Rainbow Region Organic Market at the showground every Tuesday morning or the Farmer’s Market every Saturday.
