waterways

live + work + play

Wherever you go in the Northern Rivers you’ll find water, lots of water…as the name suggests, the waterways are an integral part of the Northern Rivers experience. The great rivers have helped to shape not only the landforms but also the economic, cultural and recreational life of the entire region. The extensive waterways of the region provide a rich bounty of prawns, oysters and fish; they provide shelter for our offshore fishing fleets and are the lifeblood of our increasingly diverse farming community. They are also apart of a vast aquatic theme park, bursting with natural wonders, where you’ll find every conceivable form of water borne activity. Our waterways are a veritable Eden for frogs, water birds and wildlife and a natural wonderland for ecotourists.
